The Holy Metropolis of Mityana is an archdiocese of the Orthodox Church of Uganda, faithfully upholding the doctrines of the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. It stands in full communion with the Holy Orthodox Church of North America and Abroad, under the spiritual leadership of His Beatitude Gregory, Metropolitan of Boston.
Our sacred episcopal lineage traces back unbroken to the Holy Apostles, ensuring the continuity of grace and authority bestowed by Christ. This succession flows as follows:
- From the Apostle Andrew to the Church of Constantinople.
- Through the Russian Orthodox Church, preserved in exile by the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia (ROCOR).
- To the Greek Orthodox Church under the presidency of the blessed Archbishop Auxentius of revered memory.
- Through the bishops of ROCOR, who ordained subsequent hierarchs, transmitting the apostolic grace to Uganda.
- Finally, to our Metropolis through the episcopacy of His Eminence Metropolitan Nektarios (Lubega).
Thus, the Holy Metropolis of Mityana stands firmly within the historic, canonical, and sacramental tradition of Orthodox Christianity.
