About Us
The Holy Orthodox Church of Uganda was founded by our Lord Jesus Christ on the foundation of the holy Apostles and serves some 1.227 faithful in 20 Parishes and Missions. We provide spiritual, catechetical counseling and sacramental care for families and individuals as well as outreach programs for the needy and marginalized.
We are members of the Greek Orthodox Church under the Presidency of His Beatitude Archbishop Makarios of Athens and all Greece. For those new to Orthodoxy, it is essential to understand that the Church’s social mission is a cornerstone of its beliefs and practices.
The Church strives to generate a world that is guided by peace, justice, and solidarity.
The Church strives to live out its social mission by actively engaging with communities, building relationships;
The Church provides education support and resources to empower individuals to become active participants in their communities.
Additionally the Church seeks to provide avenues for spiritual growth and development, nurturing a sense of hope and encouragement in individuals and communities.
The most conspicuous characteristics of orthodoxy are its rich liturgical life and its faithfulness to the apostolic tradition.
It is believed by orthodox Christians that their church has preserved the tradition and continuity of the ancient in its fullness compared to other Christian denominations which have departed from the common tradition of the church of the first 10 century.
