His Grace, David, Bishop of Petra, according to the world, Kosmas Makariou, was born in 1976 in Thessaloniki. Having completed his studies in the city of Thessaloniki, he became a monk in 1994 in the monastery of St. James the Brother of the Lord of Peristera in Thessaloniki, by its Abbot (the future Archbishop). In 1996 he was ordained a Deacon by the then Bishop of Petra, Makarios. In 2004, he graduated from the theological school of Athens, studying sacred science in its pastoral department. In 2007 he was ordained Priest by His Beatitude the Archbishop of Athens, Makarios, and in 2014 he was elected and ordained Bishop of Petra by His Beatitude and the Holy Synod.
