
His Eminence Philaret Metro politan of France, according to the world Laurent Motte, was born in 1956 in Paris, France. He studied Philosophy in the university of Paris, in which he later became a professor. He was tonsured a Monk by the Ever- memorable Archimandrite Ambrose, was ordained Deacon and Priest in 1998 by the Blessed Archbishop Auxentius of Athens, and in 1996 was consecrated suffragan Bishop of Paris by Bishops Photius of Lyon and Ephraim of Boston. On May 25th 2001 he was received into the Synod under Archbishop Makarios and on July 21st he was chosen to be elevated to the rank of Metropolitan of France and Exarch of Western Europe. His Eminence knows 6 languages, including English, French, and Greek.
